Default Maradona the man for Socceroos

Quote:
How about Diego Maradona as the next Socceroos coach? It might sound a bit left field, but just hear me out.

Maradona transcends football, he transcends sport. As national coach, he would give us publicity that money can't buy

I think it would be fantastic for the game in this country, but in all honesty I don't think it will happen

As Collingwood said, it's unlikely but would do wonders for the game in this country.

Would still love Marcelo Bielsa though.

seriously?

I must be the only one laughing at this. There is 0 benefit to this other than him being a walking headline. He's a rubbish manager. I only posted this for lolz, not for people to agree

Would still very much prefer Marcelo Bielsa or Javier Aguirre

That maybe your opinion, but he's still the greatest ever player and would no doubt be able to give a lot to any developing players.

is that before or after snorting mountains of cocaine?

Or is he supposed to teach the youngsters how to snort mountains of cocaine?

Alright, an excuse to post the Maradona video from Cup Fever

Agree with FB though. Getting a better profile for the game doesn't mean anything if the guy that does that...you know, can't manage a side.

So for a rubbish Manager he got his managed his team to be 5th best.... not only that I believe his team used the most players in the qualifying process, so not a bad effort. One game goes to shit and he's shit.... I don't get that.

Not really. It's because Argentina had the most talented squad at the WC and a drunk baboon would have managed the side further than Maradona.

Be nice if he got Australia to win the World Cup... and then that nudie run he promised... he'd do it in Adelaide. They wouldn't know what was going on.

I don't think he'll get the job though. We need someone who can work with kids and make them good. If only Arsene Wenger was appointed... I reckon he'd do great with our future talent.

getting a team to fifth best would be an achievement if he wasn't managing one of the top 5 teams in world

Using the most players in the qualification process isn't a badge of honour, it just shows that he can't stick to one formation or that he's too fond of chopping and changing while we're trying to build a stable side

It wasn't one game going to shit, he scrapped through the qualifiers and only got through as far as he did thanks to a very friendly passageway and it wasn't one game, they were found out numerous times, Germany were just the first team to do it and make them pay for it

I'm sorry but i 100% disagree, they did not have the best squad in the World Cup..

Spain, Brazil, Netherlands all had better squads.

In terms of individual talent I don't think so.

I like how you said I'm sorry though

ahah mmm i'd debate that tbh

Van bronckhorst + Robben + RVP

Alves + Kaka + Fabiano/Robinho

Puyol + Xavi + Villa

is about the same if not better then

Walter Samuel + Messi + Tevez

He chose not to drag away the best players when they weren't available, which means he's blooded a lot more players for the future, and to still qualify I think that's fantastic.

Yeah people can go on about their defence or lack of it, but their game plan was successful all bar the game against Germany and I rank Germany as equal with Spain, now maybe if they had that game over again they would do things differently, but how about giving credit for once instead of being a ****en smart arse. It's all too easy to fire shots off at others when your such a know it all ****en expert.
